The Business:

Quinta Raddison Ltd. are global procurement specialists for Heavy Industry. They have been at the forefront of supplying Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) spare parts to Heavy Industrial plants worldwide since its formation in 1981.

With a UK Head Office, they have a client list that extends throughout the Middle East, Africa, South America, Asia, and Australasia, and have strategically placed purchasing and sales offices all over the world.

Their need for a Sales Director arose due to the existing incumbent looking to take a step back with a view to retiring. Having not recruited someone to the senior team for over a decade, and given the critical importance of the role, they felt headhunting was the most likely way to recruit what they needed.

They engaged us to recruit for the role as they were impressed by our detailed methodology, thorough process and high quality service levels.

The Challenge:

The major challenge for this role was finding enough locally based people who had relevant experience as well as being willing to work in a role that involved significant amounts of international travel.

As a result, we expanded the search beyond the local area to a national basis, ensuring we identified candidates who would be prepared to relocate to the UK Head Office. This delivered a much wider pool of candidates and a more diverse choice for Quinta Raddison.

Our Solution:

We undertook a detailed, thorough search of the market across the whole of the UK focusing on industries that sold engineering components into the sector. This included both manufacturers and distributors, with an emphasis on our client's key markets of power, oil and gas.

Identifying the Candidate:

The ideal candidate required a substantial background in the sector as well as having international sales experience. As a result, we identified a long list of 72 relevant senior candidates that were working in suitable roles. From the initial long list of 72, our thorough interviewing process reduced this down to produced a strong and balanced shortlist of 4 outstanding candidates with a broad range of different skillsets for Quinta Raddison to interview. We conducted psychometric profiling of all the shortlisted candidates which provided valuable insight to Quinta Raddison over each candidate's suitability and likely fit with the organisation.
