The Business:

Lemsford Mill Controls are an SME manufacturer of control systems for the commercial refrigeration market. The business had been attempting to hire a General Manager through traditional recruitment methods for 2 years without success. We met with the Owner to get an in-depth understanding of what results had been achieved from the previous avenues explored.

We identified that the proactive nature of headhunting and focus on both skills and culture fit was highly likely to find the correct candidate for them. After further discussion to gain detailed insight of the skills needed and the cultural requirements of their business, Lemsford Mills were happy our added value approach would deliver a high quality new General Manager.

The Challenge:

The brief for this role was very broad. It covered both hands-on technical requirements as well as broader business management responsibilities.
However, the detailed proactive approach we take with every assignment provided us with the confidence we would identify excellent calibre candidates across both aspects.

Our Solution:

With the client's needs in mind, we conducted a thorough talent search to identify the best, most relevant candidates. As the client had positive relationships with a number of direct competitors, we conducted a broader search across multiple verticals in order to compile the best possible list of candidates. We specifically searched for candidates who had exposure to hands-on design engineering processes and broader business management experience.

Throughout the process we kept the client updated on the status of the search and discussed different options and market insights over the duration of the project in order to ensure our client could make the right hire. We provided Lemsford Mill Controls with a range of candidates to choose from at interview stage - each was more than capable of doing the job, however each would take a different approach to the role. As our client hadn't hired for this type of role previously, we believed it was important to give them a broad choice in order to help re-enforce their decision-making process.

Identifying the Candidate:

As a result of our focused headhunting and screening process, we identified five candidates and submitted them to the client as a shortlist. Lemsford Mill Controls were impressed with the candidates we presented, identifying one stand-out individual in particular as their candidate of choice who they went on to hire as their new General Manager.This experience was yet another example of our ability to find excellent senior candidates for our clients, by taking the time to get to know the client, business culture and requirements and thinking outside the box in our search process to identify the best and most relevant individuals.
