The Business:Based in the Rossendale Valley, East Lancashire, Elekem Ltd was founded in 1975 and produces products using PEEK and PTFE material for final machining. Ensinger, their parent company is a world leader in the field of engineering plastics.
Elekem developed the first advanced technology spin moulding machines for the manufacture of PEEK tubes, They now offer a bespoke variety of tube sizes and thicknesses to both local and global customers covering a broad base of industries.
Elekem have a strong, established reputation within the market place. They required an International Business Development Manager to further build on this reputation and exploit opportunities across the globe both within the core Oil & Gas markets but also beyond into other industries.
The Challenge:The main challenge for this role was finding candidates that were strong sales leaders but also had the right balance between commercial and technical awareness.
Most of the possible candidates that we found working for competitors (direct and indirect) were either solely commercially focused or technically minded.
The role also required a true self-starter who could proactively develop new business as well as account manage existing clients. Again, the majority of candidates we approached didn’t tick both of these boxes.
Our Solution:As a generalist headhunter, we had the advantage and experience of being able to research across multiple sectors to find the most suitable candidates for the role.
This was particularly beneficial for this position as so many candidates from direct competitors didn't have the right balance of sales and technical experience.
Our in-depth research process ensured we focused on finding candidates that had strong sales experience as well as technical expertise.
