Quantity Surveyor

The Business:

Our client was DRG Interior and Building Solutions. DRG specialise in commercial property and office space construction and development.

The Challenge:

As the business is rapidly growing, our client was looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who could join the business and assist their Managing Director in leading QS activities.

The ideal candidate would have a strong estimating/QS background in a small-midsize business with an appetite to take ownership and drive the commercial activities. The main challenge of this role was our client's rural location. There wasn't a large number of quality QS's on the active open market in their area, and many candidates were very happy in their current roles and therefore reluctant to move.

Our Solution:

In order to find the right candidate for DRG, we searched within general construction companies both large and small within the vicinity of our client's location. This would allow us to find a range of candidates with experience in both small and large-size businesses who would be able to commute to DRG's offices.

We specifically looked for experienced candidates with backgrounds in commercial building, ensuring they had all the right skills

Identifying the Candidate:

As a result of our detailed headhunt, we produced a high-quality shortlist of top candidates for DRG, including one stand-out choice for the role. This candidate had strong experience working in much bigger companies and they had a strong knowledge of the industry. They understood exactly what DRG wanted and how to deliver it. The icing on the cake was that they were within commutable range of our client's location.DRG were so impressed with this candidate that they decided to hire them for a more senior role, as they felt this individual was more than capable. DRG hired them as a Commercial Manager and were so pleased with the result of the headhunt, they requested to work with us again to fill another senior role - a Contracts Manager
