Marketing Director

The Business:

Al Dawaa is a Saudi based company and was established 20 years ago. They have interests in retail, wholesale and manufacturing activities throughout Saudi Arabia and overseas.

Their core businesses is retail and wholesale, with over 500 pharmacies in KSA. They also manufacture pharmaceutical products and distribute these through their own pharmacies, supermarkets and independent businesses.

The Challenge:

The company had been expanding steadily through organic growth and investment, and were ready to secure further expansion through new acquisitions and new sector interest.

This would be a highly effective Marketing Director role with accountability for managing all digital and traditional marketing strategies across the entire business, encompassing all associated brands.

Al Dawaa were a company with a story to tell and a strong heritage in the region and we were tasked with finding a talented senior marketeer who could help ensure their story continued for many more years to come.

Our Candidate:

Al Dawaa made it clear that the successful candidate would be at the forefront of developing and executing marketing strategies for KSA and the Middle East, covering all channels within consumer, trade and medical services.

They’d also have full P+L responsibility and, consequently, be held accountable for the returns on a very healthy and complex marketing budget.

This strategic role would require the future incumbent of the position to manage a team of 12, therefore, experience of leading and motivating a team in a high pressure environment was key for Al Dawaa.

Extensive experience in a similar role, as a Marketing Director or equivalent, in a direct marketing, lead generation business or international retail/FMCG environment was also required.

Candidates ultimately needed a proven track record of success to be considered for Al Dawaa’s opportunity.

This individual had proven success of growing his employers’ market shares in KSA and the Middle East whilst also spearheading the creation, development and launch of multiple media mix campaigns for new products.

Identifying the Candidate:

For this headhunt, it was important for the client that the successful candidate had ample experience in the FMCG sector and was able to speak both English and Arabic fluently.We searched and found the perfect candidate close to home which we knew would be advantageous from a cultural perspective.
