The Challenge:

This business was one of the most well established in the field with a continued desire for growth and they were looking for a new Sales Director to take responsibility for the performance of their sales, marketing and branding of each respective division and overall standing in the marketplace.

Grant Westfield primarily sold B2B but were looking in to B2C and were constantly innovating and exploring new opportunities to grow the business. Therefore, they needed a fast-paced, forward thinking Sales Director who could excel in a very dynamic working role.

It was important to fill this role in a timely fashion and just as important, however, was identifying the right person for this role for the long-term.

Our Candidate:

The role at Grant Westfield was truly strategic, a Board level Sales Director position,with extensive autonomy and scope.

The role required a candidate with the ability to expand the business into new markets and channels through driving development of both sales and marketing functions within the organisation. Top line experience within a rapid growth organisation was highly desirable.

This individual would forecast and deliver growth for the company whilst providing vision and direction for the broader brand.

Our Solution:

The successful candidate showed a keen interest in taking “ownership” of part of the organisation, using their prior industry knowledge to deliver a competitive product portfolio that touched multiple price gaps within various channels to market.

Their experience had predominantly been with indirect competitors in the market, holding scope of responsibility for sales into multiple different channels.

This individual was a well-trained, experienced business professional with experience within trade, retail and commercial building products.

Strategically and commercially strong, and a tenacious implementer with the ability to communicate at all levels, they were the perfect fit for this Sales Director opportunity.

Knowing the Client:

Although being PE backed and near £80M group T/O, Grant Westfield remained an SME business at heart, with none of the usual politics found in big corporates.We held extensive discussions with CEO, MD and Group HR Director to drill into what made Grant Westfield such a great organisation to work for and in turn carried out extensive profiling in order to flag a candidate that would fit strongly with the organisational culture.

Identifying the Candidate:

For this particular headhunt, we focused our resources to the best Sales Directors who had worked in similar sectors, delivered outstanding results and been an integral part in helping successful business fulfil their growth potential.We looked for self-motivated individuals who took an immediate interest in this opportunity when it was presented to them.
