The Business:N is for Nursery are a trailblazing nursery based in London. Since launching in 2017, N is for Nursery have achieved considerable growth and are looking to become an industry leader across London. Each of the business’s spaces are built from scratch, enabling them to purpose build inspirational learning environments filled with passionate educators.
A leading nursery during the week and neighbourhood club for all the family at the weekend, the business looks to create an uplifting, one-of-a-kind experience. They were looking for an outstanding Head of Learning who could help take them to even greater heights.
N is for Nursery had a negative experience with recruitment agencies in the past, as such they were looking to work with a quality headhunter that could thoroughly map out the market and proactively search for the best candidates. They weren’t just looking for the best candidate available, they were looking for the best possible person for the role.
The Challenge:The key challenge for this headhunt lied in the approach. The Head of Learning role was crucial for the growth of the business, as such it was necessary to conduct a detailed headhunt and approach candidates who weren’t on the open market.
As headhunting wasn’t very common in our client’s sector, we needed to ensure that we tailored our approach to candidates who weren’t used to being approached by headhunters.
Our Solution:In facing this challenge, we modified our usual approach to candidates in order to gain their attention and trust. As most of the candidates we approached had never encountered a headhunter before, we made an effort to make them feel comfortable throughout our discussions. We wanted candidates to understand that we were making them aware of an excellent opportunity with an industry innovator.
We placed particular focus on searching for candidates within the nursery sector, both in the UK and overseas. N is for Nursery were so committed to finding the right candidate that they were willing to relocate candidates from outside of the UK. As such, we searched overseas in order to find candidates who were working at the forefront of the early years learning industry and who could make a significant impact on the UK sector.
